Raisin' Cain: The History of Cain's Ballroom will be a cinematic journey told through the music and artists that have made this venue legendary. We have interviewed musicians, music historians, venue owners, promoters, photographers, journalists, fans and Tulsa luminaries all speaking about the rich and storied history of Tulsa's Timeless Honky-Tonk; aka The Carnegie Hall of Western Swing: The House That Bob Built.
Raisin' Cain will celebrate the spirit of this venerable dance hall through the 95 years of its existence, exploring the ties between Cain's Ballroom, Western Swing, Bob Wills and his influence on popular music. We will also explore the myriad of other musical genres that have graced the stage through the years with legendary show's from country and blues greats, The Tulsa Sound, punk and industrial, international touring stars and today's biggest troubadours. This film will pay homage to, "America's Timeless Honky-Tonk" as a unique place in American and Oklahoma music tradition and its significant historical impact.
